The Market Stall of the Future NOW
As we mentioned in a previous post, for many town planners the look of a traditional market no longer has the image they wish to achieve when moving market locations to town centres. Many now prefer the bright and vibrant look of the continental markets seen in France, Belgium and Germany where they use attractive pop up gazebos as market stalls.
In the UK some market traders have been reluctant to make the change from the traditional type of stall and we thought this might be a good time to look at some of their concerns and how we can help them move forward and meet with the planners wishes.
Their biggest concern is in the ability of the new gazebo market stalls to withstand the windy conditions as they are justifiably worried that trading will have to stop and they will lose revenue.
The most effective method of securing a pop up market stall is by guying it to the ground from the top of each leg. Each guy should be roughly at a 90degree angle to achieve the best resistance to the wind. This might be the best method but as it presents a huge trip hazard no council will allow this method so we need to look for an alternative.
Many think that the next best method would be to use a weight on the foot or install bolts into the ground where the foot of the market stall can be secured. At LP Tent we believe that it is still better to have your securing at the top of the leg. Securing at the foot will eventually “worry” the lower part of the leg and will break. We recommend installing some sunken hooks to the ground and, where possible, secure the tent with wire rope with a break tension of at least 120kgs per corner. It is also possible to use good quality webbing straps for this job – see picture.
Our ZP models all feature an internal tensioning system where we have wire rope running diagonally across the tent so if you use our securing method you have the tent connected to the ground on all corners and connected to each other – this is equivalent to throwing a strap across the top of the tent and represents the best securing method you can hope for.
All our ZP/XP/S50 & S40 models now feature “Frame Hooks” where our guying points are metal brackets built into the top of each leg which means the fabric of each tent is under no loading from securing the tent to the ground.
Another area where our ZP & XP pop up market stalls excel is in the fitting of the walls. No longer will you need to suffer velcro tabs which as we all know never quite fit – our walls slot into the legs using a keder system which is unique to our ZP and XP gazebos.
There are many other reasons why our ZP & XP Market Stall Gazebos are the only choice for your markets but instead of reading about it why not call us on 01786 449519 and arrange for us to come down and arrange a demonstration in your own market.
Also remember – LP Tents have full structure testing accreditation – a 94 page document which can be supplied on request.
