In response to your email below.
  I have read your blog and as a user of Gazebo type units and a former manufacturer of the old boxed section steel stalls,  we have used both weighting systems, ropes and anchor points.  We have found, particularly in windy West Yorkshire the best method is a combination of both to avoid wear and tear at upper and lower levels.  This we have done using a key fixing mechanism, filled with anti freeze in the ground anchor.  The key has a hole drilled in the top where ratchet strapping can be connected via a carabineer back to the top section so that it enables the upper section to be anchored and proving to use less stress on the lower leg assembly.  This proved successful at one of our events where  the market continued to operate without damage and yet a very large marquee covering an ice rink had to close for serious damage.

  Further amendments we have looked at are vented canopies that will permit gusts to pass through using a flap at the top section which we have yet to finalise.  Just a couple of comments which are similar to those in your blog.

He has given us some indications of the improvements that his vast experience has suggested and we will be looking towards these soon.
One point he made in particular would be to employ a vent system to allow the wind out from the roof. The picture shows the tents we supplied to the FIA recently with this system in place.
